Mason Area Arts Council Gears Up for 2008 Arts Programming
February 3rd-29th:
The Sarah Nix Exhibition ~ Hands of Time
The MAAC's first public exhibition will be held in the lobby of the Mason Municipal Center throughout the month of February. Artist/Photographer, Sarah Nix, has created a remarkable tribute to the residents of Cedar Village, through her touching sepia photographs. Opening day is Sunday, February 3rd from 2:00 - 4:00. All are invited. The exhibit will be open to the public throughout the month of February during business hours, 8:30am - 4:30 pm.
Mason Municipal Center is located at 6000 Mason-Montgomery Rd., Mason, Ohio.
Thursday, February 21st:
MAAC Community Meeting and Sarah Nix Artist Salon
The annual MAAC community meeting will be combined with the first of four artist salon series, featuring Sarah Nix. Starting at 6:30pm at the Mason Municipal Center, the MAAC will discuss upcoming programming, encourage volunteerism, discuss community arts and cultural needs. Then, Sarah Nix will discuss her photographs and question and answer time. All are invited.
March 12th:
Poster Contests!
Mason Arts Festival Poster Contest entries due.
The Art in the Garden Tour Poster Contest entries due.
The MAAC encourages all artists, young and old to participate in these poster contests. Winners receive cash prizes. Winning entries are used in programming marketing and promotions. Application available on the website at the end of January.
Saturday, June 14th:
The Art in the Garden Tour 10:00am - 4:00pm
This unique garden tour celebrates its 4th year as it combines the beauty of art and gardens. Showcasing between 8-10 local Mason/Deerfield Twp. Homes, each garden features an artist's work. Painting, sculpture, garden art adorns these gardens.

Sunday, September 21st:
The Mason Arts Festival 11:00am - 5:00pm
Over 90 artists will be featured both on the grounds of the Mason Municipal Center and within the building. Painters, glass, wood, sculpture, and more will be featured. Local musicians, create a lively atmosphere. Great food, kite making and wonderful children's art activities help to create a wonderful family event. Visit the inside City Gallery inside the building to admire even more artwork, including the work of over 200 Mason City School students work.
Look for artist, food and entertainment applications to be posted on the website by the end of January.

The Mason Area Painters
This group of painters meets year round every Monday morning. In the warm months, they paint outside at various locations. In the winter months, they paint at a designated location. Pack a lunch, bring your paints and relax. All levels of ability are welcome.
