About the Artist.

"I think of myself as a storyteller who will learn and use any medium that will best tell a particular story. I graduated from Herron School of Art and Design at Indiana University Purdue Unversity of Indianapolis with a General Fine Arts degree. I studied a year of photography, four years of drawing, as well as a few semesters of painting, illustration, and bookbinding. I plan to attend graduate school some time in the future to study either drawing or painting."

Artist Statement

When I look at my own young, unblemished hands, I see now that my few life experiences that before seemed so thrilling or tragic have not even left a mark. I've barely lived at all.

This project has opened my eyes and heart, and has become one of those experiences that I will look back upon as a defining moment in my life. I became intensely interested in each individual, by their experiences and wisdom. I have heard so many stories, some common, some unique. I have had conversations with social workers, secretaries, homemakers, shop owners, and holocaust survivors.

When I showed these images for the first time I heard someone exclaim, "Look how old and ugly my hands are!" I wish that she could see what I see. I see her life story mapped by every crease and wrinkle of her beautiful hands.
